On Economic Policy, Harris Has Played Limited Role

Shortly after the new administration took office, Vice President Kamala Harris made calls to the CEOs of major banks, urging them to increase lending to small businesses, especially minority-owned businesses. This was in response to the government making funds available for banks to assist businesses during the pandemic recession. While Harris did not have a major role in shaping economic legislation, she focused on how policies affect workers and families at a personal level, similar to President Biden. Her involvement in economic debates was limited, with one instance of her attending a briefing and simply listening.
